ZJ: The other day, I received the most amazing message... from someone on YouTube.
Apparently, Satan tempts people to be gay. Yes, people are gay because they are tempted by Satan. But God doesn't like that—he really doesn't like that. So, he'll protect you from the "temptation" to be gay.
When I read this, it was so enlightening that my entire worldview was shattered. I had no idea that while religious people are going about their lives, they are secretly tempted to get some spicy man-on-man action. Or woman-on-woman, as the case may be. And the grace of God is the only thing keeping them on the straight and narrow—emphasis on the straight. If it wasn't for God himself standing in the way of Satan's hot pink mind control rays, they'd all be at the nearest bathhouse.
Is that really what it's like to be religious? Is this the sort of thing they have to deal with, having gods and demons waging spiritual warfare over who you're sleeping with?
This is why it's so difficult to take religion seriously. I mean, here we have the almighty ruler of the universe, and the prince of darkness, and you really expect us to believe they're having some cosmic war between ultimate good and ultimate evil... because of gay people. Are you saying God and the devil honestly have nothing better to do than to see how many people they can turn gay or straight? What, so every time I bring some guy home, Satan is like "Hell yeah, you go girl!" (Is that why they call us flamers?)
Really, this is just so patently ridiculous, it's obviously the product of some very imaginative people whose grip on reality is tenuous at best. I can hardly believe there are people who actually think this is how the world works. It sounds like the craziest movie plot ever, like something you'd come up with while you're baked out of your mind.
