#200, 28 June 2004

Well, the move seems to have gone just fine. Now there's more bandwidth, webstats, I have SSH access, and, thanks to the services of ZoneEdit, you can access the IRC channel by connecting to irc.emptv.com. I think I've fixed most of the problems, but if you notice anything wrong, please tell me. Strangely, this is the 200th update since the site's original creation.

I recently obtained a Gmail account, emptvz@gmail.com. It's better than any other webmail service I've used. For one thing, it outlines replies into an easy-to-follow layout, much like a conversation. Also, it lets you see full headers for every message. And unlike other free webmail providers, which usually disable your account if you don't log in for a month or two, Gmail won't disable your account for nine months. There's also a feature where you can "star" messages to mark them as important. Another useful feature is that display of external images in email is turned off by default, although you can click a link on the message to display the external images. It seems that emails are immediately indexed for the email search, unlike the delay of the web search. The advertisements are unobtrusive, and I actually havn't seen them on any of my emails besides Google's introductory email. Also, there are no advertisements for Gmail appended to emails you send, unlike Yahoo and Hotmail. And, one of the best features of all, any email sent to youraddress+whatever@gmail.com gets sent to youraddress@gmail.com. This has great potential. Messages can be filtered by what address they were sent to. You can use a custom address to register for a website, and if that address gets any spam, you'll know where it came from. Likewise, if you're banned from a forum, you can re-register with a seemingly new address. However, it would be easy to incorporate code into registration forms that checks for an email address containing @gmail.com and +, and then strips the + and everything after it up to the @, recreating the original address. I've noticed a few issues. Emails from other Gmail members are missing a lot of header information, including X-Originating-IP. However, emails frm Gmail members sent to non-Gmail accounts have all the headers. Also, email with HTML in it seems to take a long time to arrive, long time meaning three hours in some cases. Attachments are limited to 10MB, so you can forget about sending warez. In conclusion, Gmail is pretty cool, but I'm not about to rely on it for anything serious. Thanks to Deadman for inviting me. I do not have any invites right now, and nobody really knows how they're distributed. Try #gmail on EFnet, that's how I got mine.

Rash is a very good bash.org clone, currently in use at qwnts.luniticfringe.net.

I saw Dodgeball the other day. It was okay, but I wouldn't bother seeing it again.

"Charlie the Chainsaw wants to play!"

Also, Coca Cola C2 tastes awful.

This is going to be the most insane movie ever. Although this may already be the most insane movie ever.
