The ACT wasn't that bad, except the math section, I'm pretty sure I got at least 20% of that wrong. I didn't really see anyone I hate, although the fact that I was surrounded by complete idiots was driven home by the phrase "I LOVE ARILS TITS" crudely engraved on my desk. On a much more interesting note, I got 3 more rats last night. We found them at PetsMart, and Mom thought they were really cute. And we have the resources to care for a few extra rats, so why not? They're all male, and they're a lot younger than Pi and Coco were when we got them, I think they're only 1 or 2 months old. They're white, except for their heads and the stripe on their backs, which are black. We're pretty sure they're all from the same litter. We're not sure if they're dumbo rats, maybe they just have to grow into their ears. I named the biggest one Da Vinci (I was originally going to name Coco Da Vinci, but Marie decided to name him Coco), the second-biggest one CmdrTaco, and the smallest one Tiny. He's so small he looks like a mouse, and his black patches are more gray. I've been having some trouble telling Da Vinci and CmdrTaco apart since they're almost the same size, but Da Vinci's tail is blotchy and CmdrTaco's tail is all white. Photos. I'll probably get some better ones later.
Also, I've made the site no-www Class B compliant, meaning that whenever you go to a page on www.emptv.com, the URL is rewritten so it's just emptv.com. Basically, www. is pointless, redundant, and a waste of space, so why use it? I was considering making the site no-http/Class X7.45 compliant, which entails removal of the "http:" from URLs since HTTP may not always be the protocol used to transfer web pages, resulting in URLs like //google.com/. However, since Safari, Omniweb, and some versions of Opera don't support this, I'm going to wait a while.

pisg is a pretty neat IRC stats program, if you can figure it out, that is. Thanks to mrWoot for helping me with it. I think I'm going to learn Perl tonight.
Update: I have recently been informed that my host does not support Perl. Not really a big loss, though. I'm sure Perl has uses outside of web applications, and from what I've heard, anything web-related Perl can do, PHP can do better. And faster.
Also, I've begun participating in the WhatPulse project. My profile. And I finally broke 1000 units on SETI@home.
First, the Googlesnacker. It's a piece of code in every page that detects when someone comes to my site via Google and records what they searched for that led them here. This is the list of Googlesnacks, and this is the source of the Googlesnack generator. It's actually my modification of some code from PHP.net, and I'm not quite sure how it all works, but it does the job. And I got the idea from DriveMeInsane.com, which uses C to parse the server logs for Googlesnacks, but I think my way works well too. Thanks to cythrawll and TzarIvan for helping me develop it.
Second, some searches that led to my site, pre-Googlesnacker:

I just had to rewrite this update. For some reason, index.php got completely erased when the upload failed. Luckily, Google's cache had a very recent copy.
First, WinBar. It's a small toolbar that attaches to the top of the standard toolbar and displays various statistics and controls. It displays your Windows version, username/hostname/IP address, uptime, CPU usage, memory usage, disk usage, Lock keys status, battery, resolution, online state, a download/upload meter, a Winamp controller, a volume controller, an e-mail checker, a time synchronizer, a clock, a Google field, a news tracker, and a quick launch area. It doesn't take up much room, after a few minutes you won't even notice it. It's free, of course. I recommend it. Screenshot
Second, Sam Spade. It's a very thorough network query tool, but what it's really good for is tracing spammers. Freeware.
Third, PuTTY telnet/ssh client. I'm listing this because I got a shell account today. Basically, I can use parts of a 64-bit Gentoo server over a 128-bit encrypted connection. It's really quite cool. Freeware (the client, not necessarily the account). I recommend it.
Also, I've added a simple hit counter to every page on the site. Current hits: 222. This is the number of hits I've gotten since I added the counter, I know I've gotten at least 5000 before, but I'd just like to keep this one accurate. It doesn't really matter to me anyway, but some people like to know how many hits a page has. The current number of hits can be accessed at http://emptv.com/hits.txt. All it contains is the number. When I care enough to generate more statistics, there will be more statistics, but don't hold your breath.
