Animus Edo
The Theory Of Memory Birth
I'm going to ask you to stay focused. I'm going to ask you to keep an open mind. I'm going to ask you to think. Many people do not consider this a simple thing. Many would choose to ignore this theory completely. In this short essay, I hope to explain and describe a theory which sparked my Sophomore year of high school but was never actually completed until the beginning of my Senior year. It's not that I was flabbergasted by these ideas, it was simply that a young boy becomes distracted. Alright, now that introductions are out of the way, allow me to begin.
What is Animus Edo? Quite simply, it's Latin for "Memory Birth." Actually, you're probably still wearing a blank stare. Don't worry, all shall be explained in due time.
Okay, I want you to think back. Think back to your childhood. Now go back farther. Reach back into infancy and ask yourself exactly when you were born. Of course the answer seems simple, the moment you were released from your mother's womb. The more technical would say you're born as soon as the sperm reaches the egg however, and I would have to agree. However, I'm not asking when your body was created. Memory Birth, or Animus Edo as I shall refer to it, is the time when you began to record. When your brain began to take notes. When memories are created. When memories are continued to be kept for the rest of your life. Why should we make a new birth just for memory? Stay with me.
I want you to consider something. Doesn't the moment you began to record those precious memories feel like the time you were born? The time you came into existence. Those previous days, those years of infancy, it's almost like they never happened. Only recorded in photographs and video cameras, we actually don't remember these. These came before the Animus Edo. So, I want you to commit that to memory. The first time your consciousness actually came into play is when memories first came about. You didn't exist until your Animus Edo. The most we have before our Animus Edo is actually just really traumatic things. Events that happened before Animus Edo are only faint flashes of the mind. We only seem to remember 3 or 4 of these. Okay, let us continue.
This is where the theory of Animus Edo will take a bit more of a speculative turn. Don't lose focus just yet. Alright, considering when we have no previous memories before a certain time, that it feels like we weren't really born until that time, wouldn't that mean if you were going to have Amnesia at a later stage in your life, then you would wake up there. This would be the first event in your life you'd remember. You may recall a couple events, but your Animus Edo would actually not happen until this Amnesia. (If you are a second party, you could notice a person who has had several Animus Edo's, however, they would awaken at their latest A.E.) The main point being, if you only start existing after your memory kicks in, then if you are destined to have Amnesia, you would awaken there. I'm not sure the outlook someone would have if they regained their memory, but that is not the point of the essay. Now, if you will, I'd like to step even further into speculation and ask you consider some rather broad issues.
Accepting that Animus Edo is true (for the sake of argument,) then we can touch on some big religious and human issues. Alright, this would mean that if reincarnation is true, and if you are currently aware at this time, then you would have to being living your last lifetime. You could have bits and pieces from previous lifetimes, but still, this time around would be your final go. In reincarnation, I believe after death, your memory is erased, some may retain some pieces of info, but nothing big, and then they get a new Animus Edo as they grow from an infant. (It's important to remember you could've had a million AE's, it's the last one you'd become aware at.) Stay with me. If you look at Animus Edo and don't believe in reincarnation, then obviously after death will simply be some sort of afterlife or perhaps nothing at all. Think about it, what makes you think humans would be so special to develop a magical "soul" and be granted an afterlife. One could cross-examine this however and say humans are much more intelligent whereas animals are pure instinct. Either way, this doesn't affect Animus Edo.
To wrap it up, Animus Edo is the point in time where one will begin to be aware and memories start to be created. The theory of Animus Edo goes on to say if one will have Amnesia (or any other form of full memory loss such as this) later on in their lifetime, then they would actually begin their awareness at that point.
